Cameron’s History

If you’ve never been to Cameron, West Virginia, you’re missing out on that small town charm and raw beauty that is slowly dying out across America. It’s one of those, “if you blink, you’ll miss it”, towns, with less than 1,000 residents and zero stop lights.  Cameron was named after an Irishman named Samuel Cameron after the finishing of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1852. The B&O Depot is still located in Cameron. A disastrous fire claimed most of the town in 1895, and the de-commissioning of the railroad in 1973 further displaced the community.

So why would we choose this small town for our main office headquarters?

Despite the communal adversity over the years, the town continues to thrive and the community remains strong.  While small, our hometown is a community that is rich in religious and moral values, heritage, and history, and we wanted our office to be where home has always been.

The video below is one small reason why we are proud to be embedded in this beloved community of Cameron, West Virginia.

Our Office

Mason Dixon Energy Services (MDES, LLC) has a strong reputation in the industry because our values are built on solid ground. The same testament rings true for our home office, which is fittingly located in the old Cameron High school buildings within the city. In the same spirit of preservation and giving back to our community, MDES has retrofitted the existing buildings and shop areas as a highly functional and technologically driven office space. Preservation and community are both foundationally important to our company’s leadership having grown up within the community.

Preserving the Cameron Gym at Our Office

One particularly special space at our office is the gym. In it’s heyday, this gymnasium was packed with cheering fans and fierce competition. Sitting vacant for several years, it was important to Chris and the team to restore it’s glory as a place for the community to come together. Several upgrades later, you can find these walls again filled with competition and a place for our neighbors to gather.

As the office continues to grow, portions of the complex remain un-retrofitted. Lessons that were taught within those walls still have resounding impact on the operations of our company today.

Proud Writing On The Wall

The foundational wisdom that still hangs on the abandoned walls of Cameron High School serve as guiding values for Mason Dixon Energy Services:

Integrity

If It Is Not Right, Do Not Do It. If It Is Not True, Do Not Say It.”

Honesty

“It Is Better To Fail With Honor Than Succeed By Fraud.”

Responsibility

“Acceptance of What Has Happened Is The First Step In Overcoming Any Misfortune.”

Respect

“You Don’t Get Respect Because You Want It. You Get Respect Because You Earn It.”

Outreach & Giving Back

MDES, LLC sponsors the athletic departments at all of the schools in town. In addition to the basketball court, The Cameron Dragon Small Fry Wrestling Team holds their practices in our office building.

We participate annually in the Cameron and surrounding areas Christmas Parades and we have also donated time and resources to help maintain the towns baseball fields and the city’s swimming pool.

We also sponsored the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department’s Fireman's Festival fireworks display and continue to serve on the board for future events with the department.

At MDES, LLC, we take pride in being involved in our community and look forward to continuing to give back here at home.
